It should be noted that Saudi health officials had warned that a large number of new cases of corona were being recorded from densely populated and other foreign workers' collective accommodation centers.

Following the warning, the Saudi government has set up a special committee to look into the housing problems of foreign workers. The committee aims to provide workers with temporary housing.

According to Al-Arabiya Net, the Industrial Cities Authority is accommodating foreign workers in government school buildings to take precautionary measures against the new corona virus.

Juman Al-Zahrani, chairman of the Committee for the Review of Workers' Housing Issues, said that so far 29,000 workers have been accommodated.

Juman al-Zahrani said 4,000 workers have been temporarily housed in 45 schools in Jeddah.

The members of the committee are conducting investigative visits on a daily basis to the satisfaction of the workers stationed in the schools. So far 300 visits have been made.

The chairman of the committee said that private companies were accommodating foreign workers in the rooms. The number of occupants in each room was too high. There was no possibility of enforcing the principle of social distance. There was no provision of fresh air in the rooms. The basic principle of providing 4 square meters of space to each worker was being broken.

He added that Housing Committee officials conducted investigative visits and recorded several violations - sanitation workers and protective masks were not provided to the workers - and there was no arrangement to check the temperature in some centers.

In addition, rooms were not provided to isolate potentially HIV-infected people - social distance was not provided on buses as workers were brought to and from offices.

Al-Zahrani clarified that after recording all these violations, the owner of the private company is being given 48 hours to rectify the situation.

He acknowledged that the owners of most of the companies had arranged for redressal of the violations, including those who rented temporary buildings to house their staff, where workers were provided with a healthy environment and safety measures were taken. has been-

He assured that the Housing Committee is continuing its work.
