Holy Kaaba in Makkah gets a new cover; 160 workers carry out elaborate task
The materials used were 670 kilograms of pure silk, 120 kilograms of gold thread, and 100 kilograms of silver thread.

160 craftsmen and technicians replaced the old Kiswa (cover) of the holy Kaaba during a ceremony in Makkah on Saturday. The black silk that drapes the Kaaba is swapped every year on the ninth day of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah.

Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, the chief of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, supervised the ceremony.
