Six-member forgery gang busted in Qassim

BURAIDAH — Six members of a gang have been arrested for allegedly dealing in forged official documents. All suspects are six Pakistani nationals, reputed Arabic daily Okaz reported on Tuesday.

The suspects were arrested in the Qassim region in central Saudi Arabia, a local security official was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

“Security follow-up on forgery crimes and investigation efforts resulted in the busting a gang of six Pakistanis nationals in their 40s and 50s who took the falsification and sale of official documents as a profession,” spokesman for Qassim Police Lt. Col. Badr Al-Suhaibani said.

Forgery material as well as tools and SR33,020 in hard cash were seized from those arrested, the official said.

“They were arrested. Legal procedures are being taken with them before they are referred to public prosecution,” he added.

Forgery is a crime punishable in Saudi Arabia by up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of SR1 million
