Taif Online registration for thousands of women driving
Women in Taif, Saudi Arabia show remarkable enthusiasm for driving. The Taipei Driving Center administration reported that in the initial 2 days of registration, 5,000 female candidates registered their names.

Women in Saudi Arabia were granted permission to drive in 2018, leading to the opening of specialized driving schools for women in Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dammam.

Women in Taif City have been requesting a driving school to be set up in the well-known mountain range for a long time. A special driving center for women has been established in the university, as reported by the local news web, newspaper 24.

The Women's Driving Center initiated online registration on Friday. In a span of just 2 days (Friday and Saturday), the administration of the center reported that 5,000 women candidates signed up to learn driving.

According to Dr. Shakam al-Tayyibi, a spokesperson for the University of Taipei, the driving center was created in response to women's demands. The Center helped with online registration, and women were the ones who registered exceptionally.

Meanwhile, according to the Arabic journal ‘Aqeq’, the Saudi Directorate General of Traffic Department says that driver’s licenses are issued to women according to prescribed rule’.

In addition, he stated that more driving centers will be established in various provinces for women, while 22 centers have already been established in different cities that enable women to change their licenses abroad.

The traffic police support training centers in teaching women how to drive according to the rules. Women are then tested by the traffic police and must pass to get their license.

The driving center has set the minimum age for a license at 18, and for a commercial license at 20.

To apply for a traffic police institute license, studying in a driving school is a requirement. In a traffic police institute, a license is obtained after a specified period of taking regular tests.
