Some car showrooms can now transfer vehicle ownership
Some car showrooms and agencies in the Kingdom have been vested with the authority to transfer ownership of vehicles, register new ones and hand over car number plates, according to a statement from the General Directorate of Public Security.

The move, which is part of a number of precautionary and preventive measures taken by the Public Security on Sunday, coinciding with the return of employees in public and private sectors to their workplaces, aims to facilitate services being provided to the beneficiaries and to limit receiving service seekers to essential cases only.

In this regard, the Public Security has stressed that the Traffic Department (Muroor) services are being provided through electronic channels on ‘Absher’ platform for the completion of many procedures, without the need for beneficiaries to visit the Traffic Department offices.

The service seekers and beneficiaries allowed to visit these offices are restricted to those who are supposed to be handed over their driving licenses and vehicle number plates from the licensing offices at the Traffic Department, limiting the number of visitors to 50 percent of the capacity of the reception halls.

The Public Security said that it has resumed work by receiving service seekers in driving schools at 50 percent of the capacity, as this is limited to those who have a prior appointment. It has also directed the Motor Vehicle Periodic Inspection (MVPI) stations to go ahead with their inspections, according to prior appointments at a rate not exceeding 50 percent of the stations’ capacity.
