Families of Christchurch attack victims get a rousing reception
The families of the Christchurch mosque massacre victims received a warm welcome as they arrived at King Abdelaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Friday.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the families are personal guests of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for performing Hajj this year.

The director of Passports at KAIA, Col. Sulaiman Al-Yousef, greeted the families at the airport with gifts like flowers, dates, and Zamzam bottles.

Col. Al-Yousef confirmed that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' government pays great attention to pilgrims and provides all necessary services. According to him, the Jawazat personnel's readiness and high-level qualifications helped them complete the pilgrims' arrival procedures quickly and accurately.

Passport counters at the airport have been increased to more than 200 to quickly process arrival and departure formalities, according to Col. Al-Yousef.

He assured that processing a pilgrim's passport would take only 20 seconds.

New Zealand Ambassador to the Kingdom James Monroe and several officials were present at the reception.

The invitation from King Salman is considered an exceptionally noble gesture by Ambassador Munro.

According to him, the New Zealanders highly appreciate this move.

As part of the King's Haj and Umrah program, around 6,000 pilgrims from different regions of the world have arrived. Last year, the number was 53,747.

The Haj pilgrimage in the Kingdom has seen an increase of 9%, with 1,423,230 pilgrims arriving from various parts of the world, up by 121,045 from last year, per the Jawazat.

The Jawazat reports that KAIA and Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Madinah have received 1,323,405 pilgrims by air, 82,978 by land, and 16,847 by sea.

The number of pilgrims who have arrived in Madinah to pay respect to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and pray at his mosque is 821,792.

Of them, 654,817 completed their visit to Madinah and left for Makkah, while 167,1’s City.

Health services

17 hospitals and 128 health centers have been made ready by the Ministry of Health in Makkah and the holy sites to provide medical health services to the pilgrims.

According to the report, 30,000 health cadres are manning eight hospitals in the holy sites and nine general hospitals in Makkah.

According to the ministry, they vaccinated and provided preventive services to up to 1.2 million pilgrims upon their arrival at the Kingdom's entry points.
