Rice is expensive after chicken
The cost of rice in Saudi Arabia has gone up by 10 to 15 percent. In October 2019, a tonne of rice was priced between $900 to $950 (3372 to 3560 riyal).

The price range now is between $1,000 and $1,100 (equivalent to 3747 to 4122 riyal).

Market analysts believe that the decrease in the supply of rice from October 2019 to January 2020 is the primary reason for the increase in its price, as reported by Aikaz newspaper. However, there is an increasing trend of buying more rice.

Indian companies exporting rice have increased prices by $100 to $150 per ton.

The newspaper reported that companies did not profit from rice marketing breaks in October 2019. They are now forced to purchase rice at new rates.

The required quantity of rice contracts was not met by some companies. Negotiating new rates is now necessary. 

The price of Indian small cardamom has gone up by 90 percent in the Saudi market, as reported by the Percentage website. 

According to the narrator quoted by Al Arabiya Net, the Indian small cardamom was being sold for 9 riyals per kilo. The current price is 160 rials. The Saudi market offers very limited options.

 As of January 20, henna companies in Saudi Arabia have increased their rates from 10 to 12.5%. The value-added tax is not part of it. 

National fodder factories have increased the price of this product by 20% to 30% for poultry companies.
