First day of Hajj confirmed as Aug. 9
On Thursday, the Saudi Supreme Court confirmed that the crescent moon of Dhu Al-Hijjah had been sighted.

In accordance with the schedule, the Hajj pilgrimage is set to commence on Friday, August 9, followed by a day spent by the pilgrims on the plains of Mount Arafat on Saturday August 10, culminating in the start of Eid Al-Adha on Sunday, August 11.

According to the statistics issued by the Saudi General Directorate of Passports, the number of Hajj pilgrims who had arrived in the Kingdom for the pilgrimage as of Wednesday was 1,249,951.
