Kuwait: 25,000 foreign workers free from work

The Kuwaiti parliamentary committee on promotion of the workforce, Khalil al-Saleh, has announced that Kuwait will retire 25,000 non-government employees and replace them with Kuwaiti citizens.

According to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Arai, Saleh says that "the number of migrants waiting for government employment in Kuwaiti House civil services has dropped to six thousand, they will be deployed to different government agencies in the coming days."

"Under the policy of providing employment to Kuwaiti migrants in place of foreigners, during the last two years, 4,640 foreigners were removed from public institutions," Saleh said. National policy is to provide employment to Kuwaitis at all costs.

"In the near future, 1500 Kuwaitis will be employed in the banks," Saleh added.
