Saudi Arabia trains 500 officers to greet pilgrims
This program covers more than ten languages. Saudi passport control students receive language training to better communicate with pilgrims visiting the Kingdom.

Brig stated that over 500 trainees at the Saudi General Directorate of Passports participate in language learning programs for more than 10 languages. The director of general administration for training in the passport department is Gen. Dr. Saleh bin Saad Al-Merbaa.

Although the program started two years ago, it has evolved and improved yearly. According to him, the selection criteria for the best candidates are becoming more precise, and the required training programs are being offered to enhance their skills and contribute to their development.

At King Abdul Aziz International Airport and Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz International Airport, passport officers who work in Hajj halls and terminals speak English, Spanish, Indonesian, Japanese, Persian, Urdu, Turkish, and other languages.

The Kingdom has introduced a series of initiatives to quicken administrative procedures and simplify passage for pilgrims entering and exiting the country.

Al-Merbaa stated their keenness to portray a positive image of the Kingdom. Passport officers are the first and last people visitors encounter when entering and leaving the Kingdom.

The employees should be trained and able to communicate with people of different nationalities in their respective languages.

The passport department's objective is to offer adequate and well-trained staff to manage the large influx of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from across the globe, as he indicated.

Al-Merbaa stated that all employees in land, sea, and air ports are required to attend language courses and training programs, both inside and outside the Kingdom, to acquire the necessary skills.
