Baghdad: Rockets attack near US embassy
On Sunday, five rockets were launched in the vicinity of the US embassy in Baghdad, all of which landed near the structure.

The green belt was hit by four rockets, as per Al Arabiya Net. The US Embassy is among the embassies and government buildings situated in various countries.

Security sources have reported rockets being dropped near the US embassy in Baghdad, according to AFP's report citing security sources.

Loud noises were heard along the riverside near the US Embassy and other foreign diplomatic missions, according to reporters.

According to a security source, three rockets landed in the high-security zone, while another reported that five rockets were unaccounted for near the US embassy.

According to a statement by the Iraqi security forces, five rockets landed in the high-security green zone without causing any damage.

In Baghdad, there were violent clashes between demonstrators and security forces, resulting in one death and dozens injured. 

In Baghdad's Al-Tahrir, demonstrations persisted all day long. Strong protests were also reported in Iraqi southern cities on Sunday. University students from Baghdad and other central and southern provinces reportedly participated in the protests, per Russian news agency RT.

Twelve protesters have been killed and 230 injured in the past 48 hours, according to the Human Rights Commission in Iraq.
