According to the emergency website, Industry Minister Bandar Al Kharif said the decision to increase customs duty was taken before the Corona epidemic. The aim was to promote Saudi products. The decision was taken as part of a policy to persuade private companies to launch new projects in various sectors.
The Industry Minister said that the national policy is that all the products that can be manufactured domestically should be manufactured domestically and private companies should play their role in this regard. A policy of increasing customs duty is being adopted to give priority to domestic products over imported goods.
